As the EMPODat program is moving forward days after days, the dynamic spirit of the teams involved continues to grow significantly. Indeed, we are extremely happy to inform you that many local seminars about organs donation and transplantation took place in the past weeks!
Our partners from the University of Hassan II in Casablanca set the ball rolling on the 6th of January 2015, with their first local seminar, with a great success, followed by the University of Rabat on the 7th of January 2015. Their second seminars took respectively place on the 29th and the 30th of January 2015, with a focus on “The right to donate organs”.
In the meantime, two local seminars focused on the same topic were held in Cairo, Egypt, on the 17th and 30th of January 2015.
Lebanon also hosted, two local seminars for three days each: from the 15th until the 17th of January 2015, in Lau and from the 29th until the 31st of January 2015 in Balamand.
These seminars were addressed to all participants, coordinators and experts. During the seminars important topics were discussed, such as:
- Ethical Measures
- Religious & Legal Framework
- International Aspects
- Clinical Evaluation
- Concepts of death & Brain death diagnosis
- Organ Procurement
- Organ Conservation & Transport
- Allocation Criteria & Systems
- Psychological evaluation
Moreover, to ensure the objective evaluation, pre-tests and post-tests were carried out, and evaluation forms were filled in by all participants. The feedbacks were really positive. The overall seminars’ evaluation results have shown an excellent rating, and the progress shown was significant.
Mansura’s coordinators and experts are also actively involved in developing and launching local seminars in their University. We can’t wait to see their implementations!
Many thanks for your efforts and great job so far!
